#1 : Solid V-Neck and Tank Tops

Solid v-neck t-shirts and tank tops go with anything and everything, not to mention that they're amazing for layering. My favorite place to get t-shirts is probably Forever 21, they're cheap, they're cozy, and they have great colors. For tank tops, I'd suggest Target's Mossimo brand tank tops, the ribbed and solid ones are both flattering and comfortable.

#2 : Solid White Form-Fitting Tee

Solid white t-shirts can be used for the same purposes as v-necks, plus more. If you want to buy a corset-style shirt and wear it in a non-slutty way, just put it over a white tee and you'll look trendy and appropriate. Solid white t-shirts are everywhere so they're not hard to find at all.

#3 : Black and White Striped Tee (Round-Neck)

This is pretty much the same as the basic white tee, but if you put this under things it adds that edgy 'I know I don't match right now, but do I look like I care?' look that some people love so much. It can also be worn with layers and layers of necklaces to spice it up, or with a bright pattern high waisted skirt. Black and white striped tees can also help create a romantic french-inspired look if you wear them with bold solid-colored accessories. Black and white striped tees are probably in every store, but not all the time. It might take a few check-ins to find the perfect black and white striped tee for you.

#4 : The Perfect Dark Denim Wash Skinny Jeans

They don't have to be name-brand and they don't have to have a snazzy design on the back pocket. Wet Seal has--in my opinion, the best solid skinny jeans. A. They're cheap, B. they fit well, C. the pocket design is a simple wave. Dark denim skinny jeans can go with light colored tops for a casual daily look, or you could pair them with a slinky dark top for out-and-about night wear. If you don't like Wet Seal jeans, no worry, I guarantee you can find dark denim wash skinny jeans anywhere.

#5 : The Perfect Boot-Cut Light Denim Wash Jeans (maybe destroyed?)

These jeans can be worn for an artsy look, a rocker look, or a just plain look. They, like the dark wash skinny jeans, go with anything. You can find these jeans anywhere, but it might be harder to find some that fit you right. Abercrombie has good solid light blue and destroyed light blue boot cut jeans if you're willing to pay the price. Most of the time Gap has them too.

#6 : Denim Short-Shorts (Any Wash)

Light wash, dark denim, destroyed, black; these shorts will become your best friend in the summer. They match everything and they make your legs look good too. Denim shorts are everywhere, but personally I love the Pac Sun ones. They fit me well and always have wide variety-- not to mention they're on sale all the time.

#7 : The Black High-Waisted Mini Skirt

Wear it with a tight shirt for a club-wear look or dress it down with a loose shirt to give it a more playful romantic feel. Nordstrom BP, Forever 21, and Wet Seal all have a lot of high-waisted mini skirts.

#9 : Floral Dress

So maybe the floral dress isn't an average garment. It's a coveted piece that comes in all patterns in styles-- the real challenge is to find one that you like best (something I have, sadly, not been able to do). Despite the fact that it's not an average piece, it's most certainly a wardrobe essential. A lot of stores have floral dresses but my guess is that you'll have better luck looking in Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, stores like that. If you're looking for a really spectacular floral dress you could even check local vintage and thrift stores.

#10 : A Jealous-Stare Inspiring Jacket/Blazer

From leather to cotton, jackets are a good piece to have in your closet. You could wear them to serious things or you could wear them with a basic tee/tank for a casual in-the-city look. I love cropped jackets in edgy shapes and some people love soft knit jackets in faded colors. No matter what your style, there's a jacket for it.

or even the display windows at Barneys.

Fashion isn't restricted to the trends either. To me, fashion doesn't need to be defined; in fact, in CAN'T be defined. Fashion is an opinion, an opinion that should be shared with the world.

And when the world is your runway, the possibilities are endless.
